Being Grateful in an Ungrateful World

I don’t need to tell you what this year has been like. You’ve lived it.

I also don’t have to tell you that this challenge is going to be tough this year. From fears over the Corona virus, the economy, political divide and vitriol, to my own personal grief over the loss of my father, 2020 has been a brutal year.

Yet, there are so many things for which I am truly grateful. I have been able to spend a lot of time with my family. My son was able to play baseball this summer and flourish at it. I could be with my daddy as he took his last breath in this world…despite all that 2020 has dealt us, perhaps this year, more than any other in recent memory, it is even more important to take time to remind ourselves about those things we can and should be grateful for, even when it seems that no one else is doing likewise (a quick visit to social media proves that reality).

So, here I am…once again, dedicating the next 30 days to reminding myself of the things in my life that bring me joy, that I need to give thanks for…if I am the only one doing this, so be it. But, I know the power of gratitude, the power of grace, and the power of positive focus.

Namaste,
